Math, engineering, technology and science week designated--governor toproclaim.

9.138. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apartthe first week of March as "Math, Engineering, Technology and Science(METS) Week", and recommending to the people of the state that the week beappropriately observed through activities that will result in an increasedawareness of the importance of advancing community interest in math,engineering, technology, and science programs, and promote METS careersstatewide in order to advance Missouri's workforce. The proclamation shallalso recommend that the week be observed with appropriate activities inpublic schools. Public and private involvement in METS week demonstratesthat fostering and encouraging interest in the sciences is a major factorin determining growth and success in school and will help students developa focus on technology-based careers after graduation.
