Governor may purchase lands at sales under proceedings to which stateis party.

26.040. The governor may attend, in person or by his dulyauthorized agent, all sales of real estate made by any sheriffunder any distress warrant issued by the state director ofrevenue, or sales made pursuant to executions issued on anyjudgment, wherein the state of Missouri is a party litigant or isin any wise interested, and buy in the property, if he considersit necessary and expedient, in the name of the state, for its useand benefit, and take proper deed therefor. In such cases, hemay credit the sheriff or other officer making the sale with theamount of the bid made on the distress warrant or execution.
