Treasurer to appoint assistant treasurer and other clericalemployees--fix compensation--liable for acts of assistanttreasurer.

30.120. The state treasurer shall have the power to appointand fix the compensation of one assistant treasurer and theclerks and other employees that are necessary in the performanceof his duties under the law. Each appointment, with the oath ofoffice endorsed thereon, shall be filed in the office of thesecretary of state, before the appointee enters upon his duties.The assistant treasurer shall be competent to perform and, whenappointed, may perform the duties of the office. The treasurer,and his sureties on his official bond, shall be liable for theofficial acts, misfeasance or defalcation of the assistanttreasurer.
