Two or more cities may consolidate--procedure.

72.210. When two or more cities in this state, eachcontaining a population of less than five hundred thousandinhabitants, adjoining and contiguous to each other in adjoiningcounties shall be desirous of being consolidated, it shall belawful for them to consolidate under one government of thehighest class under which either of said cities is organized andtake the name of said city in the same manner and subject to theprovisions of this chapter prescribed for the consolidation ofadjoining cities in the same county and furnishing bonds by thosepetitioning for such elections, the subdivisions of theconsolidated city into wards and the calling of an election forofficers in such consolidated city shall be done by therespective county commissions of the counties in which suchcities are situated and said elections shall be heldsimultaneously on the same day.
