Board may compel attendance of witnesses--mayor to administeroaths.

79.180. The board of aldermen shall have power to compel theattendance of witnesses and the production of papers and recordsrelating to any subject under consideration in which the interestof the city is involved, and shall have power to call on theproper officers of the city, or of the county in which such cityis located, to execute such process. The officer making suchservice shall be allowed to receive therefor such fees as areallowed by law in the circuit court for similar services, to bepaid by the city. The mayor or acting president of the board ofaldermen shall have power to administer oaths to witnesses.
