Cemetery lots, how sold.

79.440. The cemetery lots shall be conveyed by certificates,signed by the mayor, countersigned by the clerk, under the sealof the city, specifying that the purchaser to whom the same isissued is the owner of the lot described therein by numbers, aslaid down upon the official map or plat of such cemetery made bythe city, for the purpose of interment, and such certificateshall vest in the purchaser, his or her heirs or assigns, a rightin fee simple to such lots, for the sole purpose of interment,under the regulations of the board of aldermen. Suchcertificates shall be entitled to be recorded in the office ofrecorder of deeds of the proper county without furtheracknowledgment, and such description of lots shall be deemed andrecognized as sufficient description thereof. The board ofaldermen may limit the number of lots owned by the same person atthe same time, and may prescribe rules for enclosing, adorningand erecting monuments, tombstones and ornaments on cemeterylots, and prohibit any improper adornment thereof; but noreligious test shall be made to the ownership of the lots, or theburials had therein, or for the ornamentation of graves or lots.
