St. Louis license collector to make annual settlement withtreasurer--vouchers--residual fees.

82.397. The license collector of the city of St. Louisshall make settlement annually on the first Monday in June and atthe expiration of his term of office, with the treasurer of thecity, for all fees so collected, deducted and retained by him, asprovided in section 82.395; and all fees so collected, deducted,and retained shall be computed for the year or part of the yearnext preceding the dates of such settlement. The licensecollector shall present for allowance proper vouchers for alldisbursements made by him on account of all salaries, clericalhire and other expenses of his office, and other costs ofcollecting all revenues, taxes, licenses and other dues which heis or may be authorized to collect for the state, city andschool, which shall be allowed and credited to him as against thefees so collected, deducted and retained by him. If the residueof such fees in the hands of the license collector after theannual settlement exceed two times the amount of the previousyear's disbursement for all salaries, clerical hire and otherexpenses of his office, such excess shall be paid into thetreasuries of the state, city and school in proportion that theamount of revenue so collected for each bears to the total amountso collected for all, as such amounts shall be reflected in andby the settlement made annually on the first Monday in June.
