Redemption by owner, when barred--duty of collector (first classcharter counties).

141.420. 1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3of section 141.520, any person having any right, title orinterest in, or lien upon, any parcel of real estate described insuch petition, may redeem such parcel of real estate by paying tothe collector all of the sums mentioned therein, includingprincipal, interest, penalties, attorney's fees and costs thendue, at any time prior to the time of the foreclosure sale ofsuch real estate by the sheriff.

2. In the event of failure to redeem prior to the time ofthe foreclosure sale by the sheriff, such person shall be barredand forever foreclosed of all his right, title and interest inand to the parcels of real estate described in such petition.

3. Upon redemption, as permitted by this section, theperson redeeming shall be entitled to a certificate of redemptionfrom the collector describing the property in the same manner asit is described in such petition, and the collector shallthereupon note on his records the word "redeemed" and the date ofsuch payment opposite the description of such parcel of realestate.

4. The collector shall promptly notify the taxing authorityand the delinquent land tax attorney of such redemption, and suchpayment shall operate as a release of the lien of the tax bill orbills involved and as a dismissal of the suit so far as such taxbill or bills are concerned.
