Kaitlyn's law--certain IDEA students may participate in graduationceremonies and related activities.

162.1125. 1. The provisions of this section shall be known andreferred to as "Kaitlyn's Law".

2. Each school district that operates a high school shall establish apolicy and adopt procedures that allow a student eligible under theIndividuals with Disabilities Education Act who will have completed fouryears of high school at the end of a school year to participate in thegraduation ceremony of the student's high school graduating class and allrelated activities if the student's individualized education programprescribes special education, transition planning, transition services, orrelated services beyond the student's four years of high school, and thestudent's individualized education program team determines the student ismaking satisfactory progress toward the completion of the individualeducation program and participation in the graduation ceremony isdetermined appropriate. The policy and procedures shall require timely andmeaningful written notice to children with disabilities and their parentsor guardians about the school district's policy and procedures adopted inaccordance with this section.
