Gifted children, district may establish programs for--state boardto approve.

162.720. 1. Where a sufficient number of children aredetermined to be gifted and their development requires programsor services beyond the level of those ordinarily provided inregular public school programs, districts may establish specialprograms for such gifted children.

2. The state board of education shall determine standardsfor such programs. Approval of such programs shall be made bythe state department of elementary and secondary education basedupon project applications submitted by July fifteenth of eachyear.
