Transportation to be provided children, sheltered workshop employees,social centers and residents of facilities for certain disabledpersons, also certain state schools.

162.755. 1. The state board of education shall provide reasonabletransportation for children who attend day schools or programs operated bythe state board of education or who attend programs operated throughcontract by the state board of education as provided in section 162.735*.

2. Sheltered workshops holding a certificate of approval from thedepartment of elementary and secondary education under section 178.920,RSMo, and clients of other facilities operated under the provisions ofsections 205.968 to 205.973, RSMo, and Missouri schools for the severelydisabled may cooperate in the provision of employee, client and studenttransportation. Employees of sheltered workshops and clients of otherfacilities operated under the provisions of sections 205.968 to 205.973,RSMo, may be transported to sheltered workshops and other facilities invehicles owned and operated by the department of elementary and secondaryeducation or hired by the department for student transportation or studentsmay be transported in vehicles owned and operated or hired by shelteredworkshops or other facilities operated under the provisions of sections205.968 to 205.973, RSMo, to Missouri schools for the severely disabled.

3. The provision of sheltered workshop employee or other clienttransportation in vehicles owned and operated or hired by the department ofelementary and secondary education shall not unduly interfere with theroutes and schedules of the Missouri schools for the severely disabled andreasonable compensation may be paid by the sheltered workshop or otherfacility for the developmentally disabled to the department of elementaryand secondary education.

4. The department of elementary and secondary education may securetransportation for students in the Missouri schools for the severelydisabled in vehicles owned and operated or hired by sheltered workshops orother facilities operated under the provisions of sections 205.968 to205.973, RSMo, and make reasonable compensation for the service to thesheltered workshop or other facility for the developmentally disabled.
