State board authorized to acquire property and to receive andadminister grants.

162.785. 1. The state board of education may acquire by purchase,lease, gift, bequest, eminent domain, or otherwise all necessary lands,buildings or equipment, including transportation facilities, for the useand benefit of the Missouri School for the Blind, the Missouri School forthe Deaf and the Missouri schools for the severely disabled. Whenever theboard selects property or additional property for school purposes andcannot agree with the owner thereof as to the price to be paid, or for anyother cause cannot secure a title thereto, the board may proceed to condemnthe property in the manner provided in chapter 523, RSMo, and on suchcondemnation and payment of the appraisement as provided, the title to theproperty shall vest in the state board of education for the use and benefitof the school or schools for which it was required.

2. The state board of education may receive and administer anygrants, gifts, devises, bequests or donations by any individual orcorporation to the Missouri schools for the severely disabled, or any ofthem, the Missouri School for the Blind or the Missouri School for theDeaf. Grants, gifts, devises, bequests or donations made for a specifieduse shall not be applied either wholly or in part to any other use.
