System established--board of trustees to administer--fundsto be kept separate.

169.610. 1. There is hereby created and established a retirementsystem for nonteacher employees of all public school districts, as definedin sections 169.600 to 169.710, which shall be a body corporate and whichshall be known as "The Public Education Employee Retirement System ofMissouri". The system shall, by and in its name, sue and be sued, transactall its business, invest all of its funds, and hold all its cash,securities and other property. The system hereby established shall beginoperations on the first day of November, 1965.

2. The general administration of and the responsibility for theproper operation of this retirement system and for making effective theprovisions of sections 169.600 to 169.710 is hereby vested in the board oftrustees for the public school retirement system as established by section169.020.

3. Said board shall keep all funds belonging to this system separateand apart from all other funds, but shall manage and administer this systemin all other respects as prescribed by section 169.020.
