Board of regents and board of governors may appoint necessary policeofficers.

174.700. The board of regents or board of governors of any statecollege or university may appoint and employ as many college or universitypolice officers as it may deem necessary to protect persons, property, andto preserve peace and good order only in the public buildings, properties,grounds, and other facilities and locations over which it has charge orcontrol and to respond to emergencies or natural disasters outside of theboundaries of university property and provide services if requested by thelaw enforcement agency with jurisdiction.
