Board of trustees--oath--officers--quorum--vacancies filled,how--seal.

178.830. Newly elected members of the board of trustees shall qualify bytaking the oath of office prescribed by article VII, section 2, of theConstitution of Missouri. The board shall organize by the election of apresident and vice president, a secretary and a treasurer. The secretary andtreasurer need not be members of the board. A majority of the boardconstitutes a quorum for the transaction of business, but no contract shall belet, teacher employed or dismissed, or bill approved unless a majority of thewhole board votes therefor. Any vacancy occurring in the board shall befilled by appointment by the remaining members of the board, and the personappointed shall hold office until the next election held by the communitycollege district when a trustee shall be elected for the unexpired term. Theboard shall keep a common seal with which to attest its official acts.
