State aid to libraries for services for blind and physicallyhandicapped--state librarian to administer services.

181.065. 1. The general assembly may appropriate moneys toany library which is designated by the National Library Servicefor the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress,with the concurrence of the state librarian, as a regional orsubregional library to furnish library service to eligible blindand physically handicapped citizens as defined in Public Law89-522 (1966).

2. The state librarian shall administer the libraryservice for the blind and physically handicapped, and request anannual operating budget for regional or subregional librariesproviding services to the blind and physically handicapped asdefined in Public Law 89-522 (1966), and shall monitor servicesand activities from any library in Missouri which may bedesignated by the National Library Service for the Blind andPhysically Handicapped, Library of Congress, with the concurrenceof the state librarian, as a subregional library for the blindand physically handicapped.
