Sickle cell anemia, development of program for care andtreatment--duties of department.

191.370. The department shall:

(1) Assist in the development and expansion of programs forthe care and treatment of persons suffering from sickle cellanemia;

(2) Assist in the development and expansion of screening andtesting programs for the detection and counseling of individualswith sickle cell trait;

(3) Extend financial assistance to persons suffering fromsickle cell anemia in obtaining treatment of the disease;

(4) Institute and carry on educational programs amongphysicians, hospitals, public health departments, and the publicconcerning sickle cell anemia, including dissemination ofinformation and the conducting of educational programs concerningthe methods of care and treatment of persons suffering from thecondition.
