205.985. 1. Sections 205.975 to 205.990 shall not affect the validityof community mental health centers and other providers of any comprehensivemental health services as designated by the department and governing boards ofsuch centers and providers established and appointed before a county orcombination of counties elects to provide funds to accomplish the purposes asset out in sections 205.975 to 205.990. However, this section shall not beconstrued to preclude reconstitution of the centers or other entities andtheir governing boards to include all or a portion of the board of trustees.

2. Nothing in sections 205.975 to 205.990 shall preclude a board oftrustees of a service area within a county or of a combination of countieswithin a service area from contracting with an existing public facility ornot-for-profit organization to provide any comprehensive mental healthservices for the residents of the county or the area to be served.
