Persons not eligible for general relief--exception--specifiedrelative, defined--unemployable persons--relief limitation.

208.015. 1. The division of family services shall grantgeneral relief benefits to those persons determined to beeligible under this chapter and the applicable rules of thedivision. The director may adopt such additional requirementsfor eligibility for general relief, not inconsistent with thischapter, which he deems appropriate.

2. General relief shall not be granted to any person:

(1) Who has been approved for federal supplemental securityincome and was not on the general relief rolls in December, 1973;or

(2) Who is a recipient of:

(a) Aid to families with dependent children benefits;

(b) Aid to the blind benefits;

(c) Blind pension benefits; or

(d) Supplemental aid to the blind benefits.

3. A person shall not be considered unemployable, under thissection, if unemployability is due to school attendance.

4. Persons receiving general relief in December, 1973, andwho qualify for supplemental security income shall continue toreceive a general relief grant if necessary to prevent areduction in the total cash income received by such person inDecember, 1973, which general relief grant shall not exceed theamount of general relief provided by law.

5. In providing benefits to persons applying for orreceiving general relief, benefits shall not be provided to anymember of a household if the claimant is employable as defined byrule of the division of family services; or if certain specifiedrelatives living in the household of the claimant are employedand have income sufficient to support themselves and their legaldependents and to meet the needs of the claimant as defined byrule of the division. "Specified relatives" shall be defined asthe spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, andgrandparents of the claimant, as well as the spouses of theserelatives, if living in the home.

6. General relief paid to an unemployable person shall notexceed one hundred dollars a month.
