Receipt of medical assistance while receiving unemploymentcompensation, pilot project--scope of services--payment ofpremiums--rules, procedure.

208.179. 1. Subject to appropriations made for that purpose, a pilotproject shall be created by the director of the division of medicalservices to provide up to one thousand residents of this state who becomeunemployed and receive unemployment compensation benefits pursuant tochapter 288, RSMo, with medical assistance during the period of time theycontinue to receive such unemployment compensation benefits.

2. The director of the division of medical services shall determinethe amount and scope of benefits which are available under this section.The director may also establish utilization and cost limits for caredelivered to the participants. Recipients qualifying for medicalassistance under the provisions of this section shall be subject tocost-sharing requirements as determined by the director of the departmentof social services. Such cost-sharing requirements may include the paymentof premiums, premium payment assistance, deductibles or coinsurance. Thedirector shall specify these requirements in regulations.

3. The director of the division of medical services may elect to paypremiums for such eligible residents under continuation of benefitarrangements which may be available to such eligible residents throughtheir former employer.

4. The director of the division of medical services shall promulgatesuch rules and regulations as may be necessary to implement the provisionsof this section. No rule or portion of a rule promulgated under theauthority of this section shall become effective unless it has beenpromulgated pursuant to the provisions of section 536.024, RSMo.
