Missouri state penitentiary redevelopment commissioncreated--qualification of members--no elected official may serve,chairperson appointed by governor.

217.900. 1. There is hereby established the "Missouri StatePenitentiary Redevelopment Commission".

2. The commission shall consist of ten commissioners who shall bequalified voters of the state of Missouri. Three commissioners, no morethan two of whom shall belong to the same political party, shall beresidents of Jefferson City and shall be appointed by the mayor of thatcity with the advice and consent of the governing body of that city; threecommissioners, no more than two of whom shall belong to the same politicalparty, shall be residents of Cole County but not of Jefferson City andshall be appointed by the county commission; and four commissioners, nomore than three of whom shall belong to the same political party, none ofwhom shall be residents of Cole County or of Jefferson City, shall beappointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. Thegovernor shall appoint one of the commissioners who is not a resident ofCole County or Jefferson City to be the chair of the commission. Noelected official of the state of Missouri or of any city or county in thisstate shall be appointed to the commission.
