Trustees to provide for payment of salaries, fees.

249.240. The board of trustees, except where otherwiseprovided, shall by resolution, at the time of hiring orappointing, provide for the compensation for work done andnecessary expenses incurred by any officer, engineer, attorney orother employee, and shall also pay the fees, per diem, andnecessary expenses of all court and county officers, who may byvirtue of sections 249.010 to 249.420 render service to thedistrict. The board of trustees shall have power to dischargeany employee of the district, except the engineer and attorney atwill and may discharge the engineer or attorney for cause onthirty days' notice.
