Public sewer district lien for unpaid charges--disconnection ofservices.

249.255. 1. Should a public sewer district created and organizedpursuant to constitutional or statutory authority place a lien upon acustomer's property for unpaid sewer charges, the lien shall have priorityas and be enforced in the same manner as taxes levied for state and countypurposes.

2. Should the sewer charges of a public sewer district created andorganized pursuant to constitutional or statutory authority remain unpaidfor a period in excess of three months, the district, after notice to thecustomer by certified mail, shall have the authority at its discretion todisconnect the customer's sewer line from the district's line or requestany private water company, public water supply district, or anymunicipality supplying water to the premises to discontinue service to thecustomer until such time as the sewer charges and all related costs of thissection are paid.
