Meeting of commission, location--terms of office, howdetermined--vacancies--per diem--oath.

256.651. 1. The commission shall meet in the countycontaining the largest proportion of the area of thedistrict within three weeks of the initial appointment ofcommissioners from each county which joins the district.

2. Appointed commissioners shall serve until theirsuccessors have been duly elected and qualified.

3. The elected commission members shall, at theirfirst meeting, by lot determine the terms of their office,which shall be initially two, four and six years, and sixyears thereafter, and they shall serve until theirsuccessors shall have been elected and qualified. Nocommissioner shall serve more than two terms, whetherpartial or full.

4. Vacancies shall be filled by the county commissionin the county from which the vacancy occurs for theremainder of an unexpired term. Members of the commissionshall receive a per diem for attending commission meetingsas set by the commission.

5. Each commission member before entering upon hisofficial duties shall take and subscribe to an oath beforean officer authorized by law to administer oaths, that hewill honestly, faithfully, and impartially perform theduties devolving upon him in office as a commission memberof the district.
