Samples, how taken, number required.

266.530. 1. Samples of agricultural liming materials withinthe meaning of the act shall be obtained by taking the samplefrom the producer's production belt as the material is beingproduced or from stockpile. Sampling of stockpiles may be madewhen there is a stockpile having no certification of the calciumcarbonate equivalent, magnesium content, fineness, effectiveneutralizing material, and effective magnesium as hereinprovided. A total of eight or more samples shall be taken atlocations where there are permanent fixed plants during the yearin which agricultural liming materials are being produced ordistributed but not more than one official sample per day may betaken from each individual stockpile or production belt.

2. Samples shall be taken at locations where there is nopermanent fixed plant during the month that a portable plant isat a given location until a total of eight or more samples areaccumulated for a fiscal or calendar year from either productionplant or stockpile.

3. Samples shall be taken of agricultural liming materialsuntil a total of three representative samples have beenaccumulated and submitted for analysis to determine an averageafter which a sample shall be obtained and tested with theaverage recalculated for guaranteed analysis by dropping theanalysis of the oldest sample and using the analysis of the mostrecently taken sample to establish a new average.

4. Samples for analysis may be taken from the productionbelt by the producer or distributor or authorized representativein the presence of a person appointed by the director. Samplesfrom stockpiles for analyses shall be taken only by personsauthorized and appointed by the director upon prior notificationof the producer or distributor involved. Samples may be takenfrom trucks and at other points but will not be used in computingthe average for purposes of the guaranteed analyses at source ofproduction or stockpile.

5. Producers or distributors of agricultural limingmaterials shall notify the director, or persons appointed orauthorized by him, of the production or distribution ofagricultural liming materials so that samples may be taken incompliance with this section.

6. All samples for analysis shall be taken according toofficial sieve analysis of agricultural liming materials methodsas set forth in the regulations.
