267.168. 1. The state of Missouri may support a voluntary animalidentification program. The department of agriculture shall not mandate orotherwise force national animal identification system (NAIS) premisesregistration without specific statutory authorization from the Missourigeneral assembly.

2. Any person who participates in the national animal identificationsystem may withdraw from the system at any time. All personal informationrelating to a participant shall be deleted from the system when theparticipant withdraws, unless the participant is part of an ongoing diseaseinvestigation or disease monitoring or control program.

3. If the provisions of this section interfere with the marketing ofMissouri livestock, the governor by executive order may waive theprovisions of this section in whole or in part until the completion of thenext regular session of the Missouri general assembly or any specialsession called by the governor at which time the executive order shallexpire.
