Definitions.

269.010. As used in this chapter, the following terms mean:

(1) "Animal", cattle, swine, sheep, horses, other domesticand exotic animals including birds, fish, and reptiles, and allother animals raised or produced for commercial purposes, andbeginning July 1, 1995, the term shall include poultry andturkeys;

(2) "Body parts", the blood, tissue, pieces of flesh andorgans of the carcass;

(3) "Carcass", the body or body parts of any dead animal,large or small;

(4) "Dead animal", the carcass of an animal;

(5) "Director", the director of the department ofagriculture or his designated representative;

(6) "Disposal plant", or "plant" includes any plant and allthe equipment thereof described or referred to in any section ofthis chapter, that is constructed and intended to be operated forthe disposal of the bodies of dead animals by means either ofcooking, or other method herein prescribed, or hereafter providedfor by law and not otherwise defined; and shall also include allsubstations of any such plant that are used in connection withsuch business solely for the temporary deposit or storage of suchdead bodies that are transported thereto by a licensee pendingfinal delivery thereof to any such disposal plant; and shall alsoinclude all vehicles and equipment thereof used by a licensee forthe transportation of such bodies to such plant for theirdisposal therein in any manner herein prescribed;

(7) "Finished carcass", a carcass intended for humanconsumption which is ready for final cutting, trimming, anddeboning required to prepare the final meat product;

(8) "Finished meat product", meat product intended forhuman consumption, as it is sold to retail consumers;

(9) "Nuisance", as otherwise defined by applicable Missouricommon or statutory law;

(10) "Person" includes all persons, firms, copartnerships,associations, joint ventures and corporations, of all kinds andplaces of residence, or any other group or combination acting inconcert; and whether acting as a principal, trustee, receiver, oras any other kind of legal or personal representative; or as thesuccessor in interest, assign, agent, factor, servant, employee,director, officer or any other representative of any such person;

(11) "Sinkhole", a depression in the surface of the earthresulting from the subsurface removal of soil and rock by naturalforces;

(12) "State veterinarian", a state veterinarian of Missourior his authorized representative;

(13) "Substation", a building, container, or other areawhere dead animals are brought, gathered, or held awaitingtransportation to a disposal site;

(14) "Vehicle", any truck or other motor vehicle, includingany detachable trailer or container in which dead animals aretransported; and

(15) "Well" has the same meaning as defined in section256.603, RSMo, and any applicable rule or regulation promulgatedunder the authority of sections 256.600 to 256.640, RSMo.
