Veterans displaying special license plates or Bronze Star recipientmay park without charge in metered parking--windshield placardfor Bronze Star recipients--exceptions.

304.725. 1. A veteran displaying special license plates issued undersection 301.145, 301.443, 301.451, or 301.456, RSMo, or a veteran who is aBronze Star recipient who displays a placard issued under subsection 2 ofthis section, may park his or her motor vehicle, weighing not more than sixthousand pounds gross weight, without charge, in a metered parking space.

2. A veteran who has been awarded the military service award known asthe "Bronze Star" may apply to the director of revenue for a removablewindshield placard. Upon application, such veteran shall present proof tothe director of his or her receipt of such award. Such placard shall behung from the front, middle rearview mirror of a parked motor vehicle andmay not be hung from the mirror during operation. When there is norearview mirror, the placard shall be displayed on the dashboard on thedriver's side.

3. A local authority's compliance with this section is solelycontingent upon the approval of its governing body.

4. This section does not exempt a vehicle displaying special licenseplates under section 301.145, 301.443, 301.451, or 301.456, RSMo, ordisplaying a placard as provided in subsection 2 of this section, fromcompliance with any other state law or ordinance, including, but notlimited to, vehicle height restrictions, zones that prohibit stopping,parking, or standing of all vehicles, parking time limitations, streetsweeping, restrictions of the parking space to a particular type ofvehicle, or the parking of a vehicle that is involved in the operation of astreet vending business.

5. This section does not authorize a vehicle displaying speciallicense plates under section 301.145, 301.443, 301.451, or 301.456, RSMo,or displaying a placard as provided in subsection 2 of this section, topark in a state parking facility that is designated only for stateemployees.

6. This section does not authorize a vehicle displaying speciallicense plates under section 301.145, 301.443, 301.451, or 301.456, RSMo,or displaying a placard as provided in subsection 2 of this section, topark during time periods other than the normal business hours of, or themaximum time allotted by, a state or local authority parking facility.

7. This section does not require the state or a local authority todesignate specific parking spaces for vehicles displaying special licenseplates under section 301.145, 301.443, 301.451, or 301.456, RSMo, ordisplaying a placard as provided in subsection 2 of this section.
