Inactive licensure status permitted--practice not permitted whileon inactive status.

324.216. 1. A licensed dietitian may choose not to renew his or herlicense and thereby allow such license to lapse, or may ask to be put oninactive status, provided such person does not practice dietetics duringsuch period that the license is lapsed or the practitioner is on inactivestatus. If a person with a lapsed license desires to resume the practiceof dietetics, the person shall apply for licensure pursuant to thelicensing requirements in effect at the time the person applies to resumethe practice of dietetics and pay the required fee as established by thecommittee. If the person desires to maintain such license on an inactivestatus and in order to avoid lapsing of such license, the person shall paythe required fee as established by the committee for maintaining aninactive license. An inactive license shall be renewed biennially. Aninactive license may be reactivated by the committee as provided by rule.

2. Any person who practices as a dietitian during the time his or herlicense is inactive or lapsed shall be considered an illegal practitionerand shall be subject to the penalties for violation of the dietitianpractice act.
