Disclosure of information, when required--immunity--waiver ofprivilege.

340.286. 1. Except as otherwise provided for under section340.270 or by board rule, no veterinarian licensed under theprovisions of sections 340.200 to 340.330 shall be required todisclose any information concerning the veterinarian's care of ananimal, except on written authorization or other waiver by theveterinarian's client or on appropriate court order or subpoenaor as may be required to ensure compliance with any other federalor state law.

2. Any veterinarian releasing information under writtenauthorization or other waiver by the client or under court orderor subpoena shall not be liable to the client or any other personfor claims arising as a result of releasing such information.

3. The privilege provided by this section shall be waivedto the extent that the owner of the animal places theveterinarian's care and treatment of the animal or the nature andextent of injuries to the animal at issue in any civil orcriminal proceeding.
