Definitions.

374.400. Unless otherwise clearly indicated by the context, thefollowing words and terms as used in sections 374.400 to 374.410 shall mean:

(1) "Director", the director of the department of insurance, financialinstitutions and professional registration;

(2) "Dwelling-owners' insurance", a policy of insurance on a one- ortwo-family owner-occupied premises* which combines fire and allied lines withany one or more perils of casualty, liability, or other types of insurancewithin one policy form at a single premium, where the insurer's liability fordamage to the premises* under said policy is determined with reference to thepremises' actual cash value;

(3) "Homeowners' insurance", a policy of insurance on a one- ortwo-family owner-occupied premises* which combines fire and allied lines withany one or more perils of casualty, liability, or other types of insurancewithin one policy form at a single premium, where the insurer's liability fordamage to the premises* under said policy is determined with reference to thepremises' replacement value;

(4) "Insurer", any insurance company, reciprocal or inter-insuranceexchange, licensed and authorized by the director to write homeowners'insurance, dwelling-owners' insurance, renters' or tenants' insurance, orresidential fire insurance upon property located within this state;

(5) "Renters' or tenants' insurance", a policy of insurance on a single-or multiple-family premises* which combines fire and allied lines with any oneor more perils of casualty, liability, or other types of insurance within onepolicy form at a single premium, where the insurer's liability for damage tothe contents of the premises* under said policy is determined with referenceto the contents' actual cash value;

(6) "Residential fire insurance", a policy of insurance which providesfire coverage or fire and allied lines coverage on a residential premises*within one policy form, where the insurer's liability for damage to thepremises* under said policy is determined with reference to the premises'actual cash value.
