Contracts of insurance and reinsurance.

379.230. Any company organized under the provisions ofsections 379.205 to 379.310 is empowered and authorized to makecontracts of insurance or to reinsure or accept reinsurance onany portion thereof, to the extent specified in its articles forthe kinds of insurance following:

(1) Liability insurance. Against loss, expense or liabilityby reason of bodily injury or death by accident, disability,sickness or disease suffered by others for which the insured maybe liable or have assumed liability, including workers'compensation.

(2) Disability insurance. Against bodily injury or death byaccident and disability by sickness.

(3) Automobile insurance. Against any or all loss, expenseand liability resulting from the ownership, maintenance or use ofany automobile or other vehicle; provided, no policies shall beissued under this subsection against the hazard of fire alone.

(4) Steam boiler insurance. Against loss or liability topersons or property resulting from explosions or accidents toboilers, containers, pipes, engines, flywheels, elevators andmachinery in connection therewith and against loss of use andoccupancy caused thereby and to make inspection and issuecertificates of inspection thereon.

(5) Use and occupancy insurance. Against loss frominterruption of trade or business or loss of rents which may bethe result of any accident or casualty.

(6) Miscellaneous insurance. Against loss or damage by anyhazard upon any risk not provided for in this section, which isnot prohibited by statute or at common law from being the subjectof insurance, excepting life insurance and fire insurance.
