447.562. Any person claiming an interest in any moneys orproperty delivered to the state under sections 447.500 to 447.595may file a claim to such property or to the proceeds from thesale thereof. The form of the claim shall be prescribed by thetreasurer and shall be signed by the claimant and shall contain astatement that it is made under oath or affirmation and that itsrepresentations are true, correct and complete to the bestknowledge and belief of the claimant, subject to the penalties ofmaking a false affidavit or declaration. Any holder who has paidmoneys to the treasurer pursuant to sections 447.500 to 447.595may make payment to any person appearing to the holder to beentitled thereto, and upon proof of the payment and proof thatthe payee was entitled thereto, the treasurer shall reimburse theholder for the payment at any time after the moneys or propertyis delivered to the state, unless the treasurer has already madepayment to said person pursuant to a claim filed under theprovisions of this section.
