Relief may be sought--order of protection effective, where.

455.020. 1. Any adult who has been subject to abuse by apresent or former adult family or household member, or who hasbeen the victim of stalking, may seek relief under sections455.010 to 455.085 by filing a verified petition alleging suchabuse or stalking by the respondent.

2. An adult's right to relief under sections 455.010 to455.085 shall not be affected by his leaving the residence orhousehold to avoid abuse.

3. Any protection order issued pursuant to sections 455.010to 455.085 shall be effective throughout the state in all citiesand counties.
