Both parties appear--proceedings.

534.140. When both parties appear before the judge inperson, or by agent or attorney, at the time appointed for thetrial of the cause, the judge shall proceed to examine thecomplaint and proofs of the parties, and judgment shall thereuponbe rendered according to the finding of the judge, as hereindirected.
