Prisoners may be searched.

542.300. Any associate circuit judge who shall commit anyperson charged with an offense to jail, or by whom any vagrant ordisorderly person shall be committed, shall cause such person tobe searched, for the purpose of discovering any money or propertyhe may have, and if any be found, the same shall be taken intopossession by the sheriff, and applied to the support of suchperson while in confinement, and to the payment of any costswhich may be adjudged against him on account of the offense forwhich he is charged.
