Tourism commission, members, qualifications, terms, reportsrequired, expenses.

620.455. There is created in the executive department a "TourismCommission**" composed of ten members, including the lieutenant governor,two members of the senate of different political parties appointed by thepresident pro tem of the senate, two members of the house ofrepresentatives of different political parties appointed by the speaker ofthe house, and five other persons appointed by the governor. The membersappointed by the governor may include, but are not limited to, personsengaged in the tourism industry and no more than three shall be of the samepolitical party. The members, at the time of their appointment, shall beresidents of the state of Missouri. On or after January 15, 1989, thegovernor, with the advice and consent of the senate, shall appoint onemember of the commission for a term of one year, two members for two years,one member for three years and one member for four years. Their successorsshall serve a term of four years. The terms of commissioners holdinggubernatorial appointment on September 28, 1987, shall continue untilJanuary 15, 1989, and until their respective successors are appointed andduly qualified. Members who move from the state during their term on thecommission shall be deemed to have vacated their position on thecommission. Vacancies in the membership of the commission shall be filledin the same manner as the original appointments. The commission shallelect a member of its own group as chairman at the first meeting, whichshall be called by the governor. The commission shall meet at least fourtimes in a calendar year at the call of the chairman. The commission shalldetermine all matters relating to policy and the administration of tourismpromotion. The commission shall report to each regular session of thegeneral assembly its recommendations for legislation in the field of thepromotion of tourism and related subjects in Missouri. Members of thecommission shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed fornecessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
