630.055. From funds appropriated by the general assembly forthis purpose, the department may conduct research into the causesof mental disorders, developmental disabilities and alcohol ordrug abuse, into improving methods of care, treatment,habilitation and rehabilitation for persons affected by suchconditions, and the stigmatizing effects on persons presently orformerly served in the department service delivery system.Insofar as practicable, the department shall make use of andcooperate with the services and facilities of the various stateuniversities and state agencies to conduct its research.
