Definitions.

643.253. As used in sections 643.253 and 643.255, the following termsmean:

(1) "Asbestos", the asbestiform varieties of chrysotile, crocidolite,amosite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite;

(2) "Asbestos abatement projects", an activity undertaken toencapsulate, enclose or remove ten square feet or sixteen linear feet or moreof friable asbestos-containing materials from buildings and other aircontaminant sources, or to demolish buildings and other air contaminantsources containing ten square feet or sixteen linear feet or more;

(3) "Friable asbestos-containing material", any material that containsmore than one percent asbestos, by weight, which is applied to ceilings,walls, structural members, piping, ductwork or any other part of a building orother air contaminant sources and which, when dry, may be crumbled, pulverizedor reduced to powder by hand pressure.
