Board of directors--number--qualifications--powers--duties.

660.372. 1. Each community action agency shall have a boardof directors, as provided by the bylaws of the corporations, ofnot less than twelve nor more than thirty-six members. One-thirdof the members of the board shall be elected public officials,currently holding office, or their representatives, except thatif the number of elected officials reasonably available andwilling to serve is less than one-third of the membership of theboard, membership on the board by appointive public officials maybe counted in meeting such one-third requirement. At leastone-third of the members shall be persons chosen in accordancewith democratic selection procedures adequate to assure that theyare representative of the poor in the area served, and theremainder of the members shall be officials or members ofbusiness, industry, labor, religious, welfare, education, orother major groups and interests in the community.

2. The governing board shall determine personnel, fiscal andprogram policies and approve proposals for financial assistanceand the disbursement of funds.
