Statutes > New-hampshire > TITLEXX > CHAPTER231 > 231-139The selectmen or other citizens of any town may nominate for appointment by the director, division of forest and lands, department of resources and economic development, as town tree warden one or more persons by them known to be interested in planting, pruning and preservation of shade and ornamental trees and shrubs in public ways, parks and grounds. After investigation the director may choose and appoint from the persons recommended as above prescribed one competent person to be the tree warden for said town who shall serve for one year or until a successor is appointed as hereinbefore provided. The director shall have the power in the exercise of his discretion to remove any tree warden from office. It shall be the business of the tree warden to perform the duties hereinafter specified and he shall be allowed such compensation for services and expenses as the selectmen may deem reasonable.
