Upon being so certified by the said Board of Agriculture in the mannerhereinbefore set forth, such commission, council, board or other agency shallthereupon be fully authorized and empowered to hold and conduct on the part ofthe producers and growers of such particular agricultural commodity areferendum on the question of whether or not such growers and producers shalllevy upon themselves an assessment under and subject to and for the purposesstated in this Article. Such referendum may be conducted either on a statewideor area basis. (1947, c. 1018, s.7.)
