§ 115C‑163. Acquisition of land for agricultural education instructional programs.

Local boards of education may acquire by gift, purchase, or lease fornot less than the useful life of any project to be conducted upon the premises,a parcel of land suitable for a land laboratory to provide students withpractical instruction in soil science, plant science, horticulture, forestry,animal husbandry, and other subjects related to the agriculture curriculum.

Each deed, lease, or other agreement for land shall be made to therespective local board of education in which the school offering instruction inagriculture is located; and title to such land shall be examined and approvedby the school attorney.

Any land laboratory thus acquired shall be assigned to the agriculturaleducation program of the school, to be managed with the advice of anagricultural education advisory committee.

The products of the land laboratory not needed for public schoolpurposes may be sold to the public: Provided, however, that all proceeds fromthe sale of products shall be deposited in the appropriate school account nolater than the end of the next business day after receipt of funds.  Theproceeds shall be established as a revolving fund to be used solely inoperating and improving vocational and technical education programs.
