Article 5.

Local Boards of Education.

§ 115C‑35.  How constituted.

(a)        The county board of education in each county shall consistof five members elected by the voters of the county at large for terms of fouryears: Provided, that where there are multiple local school administrativeunits located within the county, and unless the county board is responsible forappointing members of the board of education of a city administrative unitlocated within the county, only those voters who reside within the countyschool administrative unit boundary lines shall be eligible to vote for membersof the county board of education. Where the county board is responsible forappointing members of the board of education of a city administrative unitlocated within the county, the voters residing within that city schooladministrative unit shall be eligible to vote for members of the county boardof education.

The terms of office of the members of boards of education of all schooladministrative units in this State, who serve on June 25, 1975, shall continueuntil members are elected and qualified as provided in this section unlessmodified by local legislation.

(b)        No person residing in a local school administrative unitshall be eligible for election to the board of education of that local schooladministrative unit unless such person resides within the boundary lines ofthat local school administrative unit.
