(a) The Commissionshall institute and coordinate a statewide course of instruction in boatingsafety, and in so doing may cooperate with any political subdivision of theState or with any reputable organization having as one of its objectives thepromotion of boating safety.
(b) The Commissionshall designate those persons or agencies authorized to conduct the course ofinstruction, and this designation shall be valid until revoked by theCommission. Within 30 days of completion of a course of instruction, adesignated person or agency shall submit to the Commission a list of the namesof all persons who successfully completed the course of instruction conductedby the designated person or agency.
(c) The Commission mayconduct the course in boating safety using Commission personnel or otherpersons at times or in areas in which competent agencies are unable orunwilling to meet the demand for instruction.
(d) The Commissionshall issue a boating safety certification card to each person who successfullycompletes the course of instruction.
(e) The Commissionshall adopt rules to provide for the course of instruction and the issuance ofboating safety certification cards consistent with the purposes of thissection.
(f) Any person whopresents a fictitious boating safety certification card or who attempts toobtain a boating safety certification card through fraud is guilty of a Class 2misdemeanor. (2006‑185,s. 1.)
