124.24 Examinations for employees engaged in mineral resource safety.

Notwithstanding sections 124.01 to 124.64 and Chapter 145. of the Revised Code, the examinations of applicants for the positions of deputy mine inspector, superintendent of rescue stations, assistant superintendent of rescue stations, electrical inspectors, gas storage well inspector, and mine chemists in the division of mineral resources management, department of natural resources, as provided in Chapters 1561., 1563., 1565., and 1567. of the Revised Code shall be provided for, conducted, and administered by the chief of the division of mineral resources management.

From the returns of the examinations the chief shall prepare eligible lists of the persons whose general average standing upon examinations for such grade or class is not less than the minimum fixed by rules adopted under section 1561.05 of the Revised Code and who are otherwise eligible. All appointments to a position shall be made from such eligible list in the same manner as appointments are made from eligible lists prepared by the director of administrative services. Any person upon being appointed to fill one of the positions provided for in this section, from any such eligible list, shall have the same standing, rights, privileges, and status as other state employees in the classified service.
