SECTION 16-60-5

   § 16-60-5  Meetings of board. – (a) The regents shall hold regular meetings at least twice in each quarter ofeach calendar year. All meetings of the board of regents for elementary andsecondary education shall be open to the public, provided that executivesessions may be held as subordinate parts of public meetings. Every February ata time and place to be determined by the regents, the regents shall hold ameeting to which it shall invite the entire membership of the general assembly.At least thirty (30) days' written notice of the annual meeting shall befurnished to each invitee, which notice shall include an agenda of the meeting,which agenda shall include but not be limited to the budget submitted for thefiscal year beginning July 1 of the next fiscal period.

   (b) In addition to other meetings, the regents shall hold atleast one regular public meeting annually with representatives of the RhodeIsland League of Cities and Towns, the Rhode Island Association of SchoolCommittees, the Rhode Island School Superintendent's Association, the RhodeIsland Principal's Association, the National Education Association of RhodeIsland and the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers, for the purposes ofobtaining their recommendations and comments regarding education policy andprograms, and securing information from representatives of these organizationsconcerning the effectiveness of educational programs and policies, andconsidering any other mutually agreeable subjects.
