SECTION 28-33-21

   § 28-33-21  Savings or other insurance notto be considered. – No savings or insurance of the injured employee, independent of chapters 29– 38 of this title, shall be taken into consideration in determining thecompensation to be paid, nor shall benefits derived from any other source thanthe employer be considered in fixing the compensation under those chapters,except as provided in § 28-33-45. Any employer who refuses or delayspayment under those chapters on account of the receipt by any injured employeeof savings, insurance, or benefits shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, andon conviction shall be liable to a fine of not less than one hundred dollars($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500), or imprisonment not exceedingone year, or both.
