SECTION 33-21A-4

   § 33-21A-4  Notice. – The general treasurer shall notify depositors whose accounts are to beescheated as follows:

   (1) A letter advising that a postal savings system account inthe name of the addressee is about to be escheated and setting forth theprocedure by which a deposit may be claimed shall be mailed by first class mailto the named depositor at the last address shown on the account records foreach account to be escheated having an unpaid principal balance of more thantwenty-five dollars ($25.00).

   (2) A general notice of intention to escheat postal savingssystem accounts shall be published once in each of three (3) successive weeksin one or more newspapers which combine to provide general circulationthroughout this state.

   (3) A special notice of intention to escheat the unclaimedpostal savings system accounts originally deposited in each post office must bepublished once in each of three (3) successive weeks in a newspaper publishedin the county in which the post office is located or, if there is none, in anewspaper having general circulation in the county. This notice must list thenames of the owners of each unclaimed account to be escheated having aprincipal balance of three dollars ($3.00) or more.
