§ 54. Repeal of acts not to affect penalties, forfeitures and taxes

The repeal of former law by this subchapter shall not affect a penalty or forfeiture incurred or a tax imposed before it takes effect under any of the laws repealed, except that where a punishment, penalty or forfeiture is mitigated by the provisions of the Vermont Statutes Annotated, these provisions may be extended to any sentence or judgment pronounced after that repeal.
